There are 82 routes of entry to the UK. For the majority of young travellers the obvious route has been the Working Holiday Visa (WHV).
As its name suggests this visa allows the traveller to enter the UK for principally holiday purposes but it accommodates the need for the traveller to earn money to fund their travels. If you enter on this visa you can work for up to 12 months of your 24 months stay in the UK.
The UK is encouraging individuals to come to the UK that are skilled workers. If you have work experience and are professionally qualified then a Highly Skilled Migrant Permit may be a more advantageous way to enter and work in the UK.
Our qualified immigration officers at our London offices can offer help and assistance. We suggest that you email your request to destinationuk@mysmoothlanding.com with your details to see if this is a viable route for you.
Our Smooth Landings Australia team will be able to offer help and assistance on the WHV process.
If you are logging on from South Africa you will know that there have been changes to the WHV in terms of an increase in fees from R1000 to R3000 and a change to procedures which now requires you to attend one of 4 offices for fingerprinting and to personally present your application.
The number of successful WHVs has reduced as a consequence of the changes and as such we strongly recommend that you contact one of our South Africa based Visa Consultants for help and assistance with your application. Our Visa Consultants can be contacted on 0860 566 366.
We also have a qualified Immigration Advisor in South Africa who can help with alternative immigration routes into the UK. For example: A Highly Skilled Migrant Permit
